What is SochCup?

SochCup is a reusable menstrual cup that can be used to collect period blood. It offers comfortable, sustainable, and new-age sanitary protection. It comes with a bell-shaped silicone body, with an open rim on one end and a stem on the other end.

What are SochCup sizes and colours?

SochCup comes in two sizes – small and large. It also comes in two colours – clear and pink.

What is SochCup made of?

SochCup is made of biocompatible, medical grade silicone. By biocompatible, we mean that SochCup is tested to be safe for human use. The silicone we use is also medical grade; meaning, this is the same kind of silicone one would use in medical implants that stay in the body for several years.

Is it safe to use SochCup?

Absolutely. SochCup is completely safe and hygienic to be used internally. In fact, SochCup is one of the very few cups in India that is certified to be safe by the Safety Monitor Research Foundation. SochCup scored a full 10 points. You can read about it further here.

Where does SochCup sit?

SochCup is an internal form of period protection. Basically, SochCup has to be inserted into the vagina. It sits at the mouth of the cervix and collects the period blood.

Can sexually inactive women use SochCup?

Using a menstrual cup while not being sexually active is a personal choice. We know several young women, teenagers even, who use the SochCup Small Size comfortably. In women whose hymen is intact, the use of SochCup may stretch the hymen; however, most women can use SochCup comfortably.

How do I know what my SochCup size is?

To help you figure this out, we have a quiz that you can take. All you need to do is simply enter the required information, and voila, you will get a size recommendation!

How to Use a SochCup?

First, sterilize the SochCup by boiling it in hot water for 5-7 minutes. Then, SochCup can be used by folding it in several ways. We recommend the C fold and the punch-down fold for SochCup use. It is advised to stay calm and find a comfortable position (like squatting) to insert the cup. Once the cup is inserted into the vagina using one of the recommended folds, it can be removed after 5-6 hours by pinching the bottom of the cup. The contents of the cup can be emptied, the cup can be rinsed, and it can then be re-inserted.

For how long can I wear my SochCup?

You can wear SochCup for up to 12 hours. But we recommend changing it once at least every 8 hours. On heavy flow days, you may want to empty sooner than recommended. When you are using the SochCup for the first time, you may want to empty it every 2-3 hours to check how much you’re bleeding and how often you may need to empty the cup.

How often and how do I clean my SochCup?

SochCup need not be sterilized every single time you remove and reinsert it. However, it is advised that you sterilize SochCup at the end of every cycle. You can do this by boiling it in a pan of hot water for 5-7 minutes. Once this is done, air dry it for a while and place it back in the cotton pouch that it came in. Do not store it in an air-tight box.
